Speed, Strategy, and Glory in Limassol – The Cyprus Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025

The clock will tick faster. The moves will come sharper. And the stakes will be higher. On the weekend of 30–31 August 2025, the country’s fastest minds will gather at the Elias Beach Hotel, Limassol for the Cyprus Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2025, organised by the Cyprus Chess Federation and the Limassol Chess Club.

Saturday is Rapid – nine intense rounds at 10 minutes + 3 seconds per move. Sunday is Blitz – thirteen electrifying rounds at 3 minutes + 2 seconds per move. Both days will crown the official National Champions and award trophies and medals across multiple age and veteran categories.

The atmosphere will be electric – a mix of precision and adrenaline as every move could be the difference between victory and defeat. Whether you are chasing the title or just want to experience the thrill of top-level fast chess, this is an unmissable event.

Only players with an active Cyprus Chess Federation player card can participate – but spectators are welcome to witness the action live.

Larnaca All-Night Blitz 2025

One of Cyprus’s most iconic and unconventional chess events returns this August — the All-Night Blitz hosted by Larnaca Chess Club.

Starting at 23:30 on Saturday night and continuing into the early hours of Sunday, the tournament challenges players to push their limits not just on the board, but with their stamina. Whether you’re a seasoned blitz warrior or just up for a memorable night, this is a must-attend.

Key Highlights:

• ⚡ Blitz format with no increment — just pure speed
• 🏆 Open and Closed categories with trophies and prize money
• 🔄 Up to 24 rounds, depending on number of entries
• ☕ Entry includes a complimentary drink — and you’ll probably need it
• ❗ Not FIDE-rated, no ID required — but registration is required in advance
