About Us

We inform, connect, and celebrate Cyprus chess

The Cyprus Chess Journal was launched in 2025 as the first independent chess magazine dedicated entirely to the games, people, and culture of chess in Cyprus. Created and published by SIMBA Trainers LTD, the Journal is free to read, open to all, and designed to showcase the unique chess life of our island.

Cyprus chess has always had stories worth telling. From small local clubs where children make their first moves, to international events where Cypriot players challenge the world, the game continues to inspire passion, discipline, and creativity.
The Journal was created to give those stories a permanent home. We bring together annotated games, tournament reports, interviews with players and coaches, reflections from arbiters, and historical archives that highlight the evolution of the sport. Every article is a piece of Cyprus chess heritage — recorded, preserved, and shared.
We are not a federation bulletin or a club newsletter. We are a magazine in the true sense: a space for ideas, insights, voices, and memories. Independent of politics, open to contributions from across the chess community, and committed to professional design and editorial standards.

Independent and Free to Read

The Journal is free for everyone — players, parents, fans, and international readers who wish to follow Cyprus chess. Instead of subscriptions, we are supported through sponsorships, advertising placements, and partnerships with organizations who believe in the value of growing chess culture.
This model allows us to remain fully independent while keeping the content accessible to all. We believe that chess thrives when knowledge is shared, and our mission is to ensure that every reader can learn, enjoy, and be part of the Cyprus chess story.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see chess in Cyprus flourish — to help young players find inspiration, to celebrate the champions of today, and to honor the legacies of those who came before. We want every move, every game, and every story to find its place in the wider narrative of Cypriot chess.

Cyprus Chess Journal — a magazine for the community, by the community, and for the history yet to be written.
